Anthropology & Humanism Editorial Changes

(*reposted)

Our Editors-in-Chief, David Syring and Jeffrey Ehrenreich, ended their term with our December 2020 issue. We would like to thank them for their service. ◊

On October 2020, our newly selected incoming editorial team of Katrina Daly Thompson and Neni Pangouria took over editorship as EICs of the journal. Julia Offen continued as Ethnographic Fiction and Creative Nonfiction editor, Leah Zani continued as Poetry editor, and Adriana Garriga-López began as Book Review editor. ◊

In June 2021, we were saddened to report that Neni Pangouria, Leah Zani, and Adriana Garriga-López resigned their positions with Anthropology & Humanism. We value the work they did during the time they served the journal, and wish them the best in the future.

As board members of the Society for Humanistic Anthropology and stewards of its journal, we have the pleasure and responsibility of encouraging the development of humanistic anthropology, publishing and rewarding outstanding scholarship in humanistic anthropology, and serving our colleagues who are similarly committed to humanistic anthropology.

This journal would not be possible without the work of its editors – our goal is to ensure that future editors find working with Anthropology & Humanism and the Society for Humanistic Anthropology to be a productive, positive experience. Moving forward, we are committed to learning from these events as we collectively engage with the journal’s central question: what does it mean to be human?

We know that the journal will remain in good hands with Katrina Daly Thompson as our Editor-in-Chief.

Our more detailed response letter may be accessed here.

Anthropology & Humanism Special Call for Submissions

Anthropology & Humanism invites essays, articles, creative prose, and poetry from anthropologists and other ethnographers on the theme of “Writing Ethnographically During a Pandemic.” How has the COVID-19 pandemic impacted your ethnographic research and writing?  Our normal word limit is 8000 words, but for this call we seek shorter pieces, up to 2000 words. For creative prose, in particular, we encourage stories that allow us to wallow in the senses, and even shorter word lengths (10-2000 words). All submissions will go through the normal peer review process. Depending on the number of submissions accepted, these will appear in a special section in our December 2021 and/or June 2022 issues.
