The Society for Humanistic Anthropology (SHA) is a section of the American Anthropological Society. Membership is open to all who share an enthusiasm for humanistic and post-humanistic inquiry in all fields within and adjacent to anthropology. We are an active, welcoming community which awards ethnographic writing prizes, publishes our journal Anthropology and Humanism, promotes mentorship, and comes together and sponsors sessions annually American Anthropological Association Annual Meetings.
The American Anthropological Association (AAA), the primary professional society of anthropologists in the United States since its founding in 1902, is the world’s largest professional organization of individuals interested in anthropology.
